Quick Clean Up Guide For Spills
Is EverSeal™ Right For You?
What Makes EverSeal™ Different From Scotchgard or Teflon?
Scotchgard and Teflon are products. EverSeal™ is a program. They are actually great products and we use 3M Scotchgard regularly. What we have found is that there is nothing out there that is bullet proof. And there is nothing out there that can do it all. Some protectors work great on delicate fabrics but shouldn’t be applied to synthetic fibers. Some work great on synthetics but can’t be applied to delicate fabrics without problems. Some are better at repelling liquids and some are better at blocking out stains. Some are better at water based spills while others are better at oil based spills. Some have an unpleasant odor. Others leave the fabric feeling slightly stiffer. So what we realized is that there is no perfect product out there. So with the EverSeal™ Program, consumers get the benefit of all of our expertise of what products perform best on what fabrics and in what type of environment. Since we are a cleaning company and not a furniture store, we are well acquainted with how different fabrics hold up in different environments. We also have a better idea of what type of stains may become permanent on which types of fabrics.
What makes this different from the big box furniture stores that offer protection warranties?
Anyone that has purchased furniture from a big box furniture store in the last 30 years knows to expect a strong sales pitch to purchase their protection warranty. It is often expensive and you find yourself purchasing out of compulsion rather than a well thought out decision. What you have to be aware of is that you are buying a warranty from a third party, a company that sells warranties. You cannot call the furniture store and talk face to face with them when you need to have a spill taken care of. You have to call an 800 number and deal with screening menus till you finally get a live person. If you get this far, this is where the warranty usually falls apart. Most of their warranties require you to call within 24 hours of the spill or the warranty is void. Most people don’t do that. Then the warranty is limited to what spills it covers. And if you are lucky enough to pass all that, and they say they will send someone out to clean it, their list of preferred companies are all the lowest priced companies that are going to get paid whether they get the spot out or not. They have no skin in the game. EverSeal is different because you are calling the same company that applied it. We don’t sell furniture or warranties. We clean upholstery everyday. So when you call you are speaking to a live person right away who will get a technician out to your home right away to attempt to remove the spot. We are not the low budget company. All of our technicians are go through our training program and are sent to classes and are IICRC certified. As long as it is not a permanent stain, they are going to be able to remove it
Can this be applied to any fabric?
Any fabric can be protected. We have applied EverSeal™ to wool, cotton, linen, silk, Sumbrella™ outdoor furniture, fine area rugs, headboards and most leathers. The higher quality the fabric is the more it makes sense to have it protected.
What makes this different from other high end protectors?
Other high-end protectors work well but they are a one-size-fits-all protector. Some might work well on water based stains while others work better on oil based. Some last longer while some are more effective. So while something might work great for a new cotton/poly blend white sectional, it may not be the best thing for your outdoor furniture. Keep in mind EverSeal™ is a program not a protector.
The other thing to keep in mind is that most high end protectors are applied by someone who has never cleaned high end fabrics, or any fabric. So they don't offer a lifetime spot and spill service. If you have any sort of spot you cannot remove, it is up to you to find a company to take care of it.
What does the spot and spill warranty cover?
Here is how our spot and spill warranty works. Most things that you spill, if you clean them right away, they are going to come right out. We provide you with a great spot cleaner and an instructional video on our website so that you can be prepared to take care of any spill immediately. If your attempts have been unsuccessful, give us a call. You can call us for any spot or spill. We don’t guarantee we can get all spots out, we only ask that you make an attempt to remove the spot right away. You can call us as many times as necessary for the life of the protected item.
Can I just buy a can of Scotchgard and get the same protection?
You can buy Scotchgard and other protectors in a can and it will provide some great protection for you. In my experience, here are some things to think about:
It is difficult to get good even coverage from an aerosol can
You will have to figure out how many cans it will take to cover an average size sofa
Does your sofa need water based or solvent based
It comes with no spot and spill warranty
It will likely have to be re-applied with every cleaning
Scotchgard has great repellancy and stain protection. Most of the protectors we apply provide higher levels of both. Cleaning fabrics like linen and velvet and silk requires knowledge and experince. The right protector for those fabrics makes a big difference in how well they will hold their "like new" appearance.
